Beautiful Doily

I finally finished crocheting it! It was a lot of work but worth it. This is the Harvest Moon Doily designed by Elizabeth Ann White - Bella Crochet. All her designs are to die for! I'm putting it up for sale on eBay tonight.

Rainy Cold Friday

It's been rainy and cold all day. August in Michigan is like January. I took Ginger for a walk and it started raining but she didn't care. Oh, but try to get her to go outside to poopoopeepee when there's barely a sprinkle and she acts as if she'll melt!

DH took FIL to Detroit to the doctor and they were gone all day so I was home alone. Peace and quiet - aaahhh!!!

Out The Ying-Yang

I have blueberries coming out my ears and cucumbers and beans coming out the ying-yang! lol I made a blueberry buckle last night and it was yummy. Stuck my nose over the back deck railing this morning and looked below and could see cucumbers, cucumbers, cucumbers, beans, beans, beans! DH will have to pick today. My decrepit back won't survive another picking this week.

High On The Hog

I picked a mess of wax beans from our garden yesterday. Today I snapped beans all morning and froze 6 quarts of them. The remaining 2 quarts I put in a pot with new red potatoes from our garden and put some smoked pork chops in the pot with them. That's what we're having for supper tonight along with sliced cucumbers from our garden in sour cream with cherry tomatoes from our garden on the side.

I just took a deep-dish blueberry pie out of the oven I made from the blueberries we picked the other day. We're going to be eating high on the hog tonight! lol

Googly-Eyed

I put aside the chenille sweater I've been working on (yeah, another WIP to add to my growing collection) because I need to get cracking on Halloween doilies. Plus, I'm having major doily withdrawal! I've been working with black size 10 thread and I'm getting googly-eyed. Black crochet thread is so hard to see and I can see good close up! I just have to wear glasses to see at a distance. I need to take the desk lamp out of the office and set it on the table beside my crocheting chair while working with the black thread.

Scrumptious

These are the muffins I made from scratch today from the blueberries we picked today. Scrumptious! Of course a little chihuahua named Ginger helped me along. That's her begging for one. She got a small bite just for looking so cute!

I Found My Thrill...

...on blueberry hill.

We just picked 15 pounds of blueberries at a blueberry farm in an hour. Nothing like fresh Michigan blueberries. Pie, muffins, pancakes, pan dowdy... Oh, the possibilities! I'd better get baking! lol

Rounding The Bend

I have to crochet the sleeves and then I'm finished with the chenille sweater. I hope it doesn't look too quaint. If it does I'll just wear it around the house.

We watched more Earth grazers last night and they were spectacular! My Daddy used to watch all the meteor showers with me and we would have long discussions about all things scientific way into the night. I sure miss that.

DH is putting new shingles on the roof so he's headed out the door to do some before it gets too hot up there.

We're going to the thrift store in Hale even though we don't need another thing to pile up awaiting sale on eBay. But, there's always that feeling when you find something great that will sell for a high price.

Meteor Shower

We watched the Perseids meteor shower last night. The moon came up at 11pm so from then to 5am only the brightest ones could be seen. We did see some real nice Earth grazers especially from 10pm to 11pm Can't wait for the Leonids in November and the Geminids in December. We'll be in Arizona then and will go to the desert to see those.

There's No Place Like Home...

There's no place like home...there's no place like home...

Just got back yesterday from visiting my sister, brother and granddaughter in Ohio. We were only gone for three days and it feels like I was gone a month. That's probably due to the rigamarole we had to go through to get there. We had to drive 2 hours out of our way to drop DH's dad off at DH's brother's house. Then my sister has cats in the house and a dog. So, I had to sequester Ginger in a bedroom with a board across the frame so she could look out but not get out unless we had her on a leash. My granddaughter Lyla generously let us use her bed but it is so soft my bones are killing me. My brother Bruce, sister Julie and I went over to the old homestead to get the last of our late parents' belongings and that was somber. On the way home traffic was bad because there was two wrecks because it poured the rain from Toledo, Ohio to Richmond, Michigan. At two points along the way traffic was tied up because water was a foot deep on the road. Whew! There's no place like home!

P.S. I had a great time!

Company's Coming

I'm leaving tomorrow to visit relatives in Ohio for a few days. I also want to visit my parents' grave. So much to do just for a three day jaunt! We have to take Ginger to get her nails done. While we're in town we'll pick up a few things to take with us on our trip. I want to take a cooler so we can bring some foodstuffs back from Ohio that you can't buy here in Michigan like Queen City goetta (what's goetta you say?) and Kahn's wieners. We have to stop the mail for three days because we don't have any trustworthy neighbors to get it for us. If we were at our house in Arizona our next door neighbor would get our mail and put it on our kitchen table. They have a key.

My FIL is worried the car will break down on us. Ohio is NOT in another country! It's about a 7 hour drive. He was trying to talk us into taking a rental car and said he would even pay for it but it would be too much rushing around. Hey, since he was willing to pay $100 for the rental car do you think he'd be willing to shell out some gas money? ha ha

It's supposed to be sunny for a few days so maybe the vegetables in the garden will start to ripen. DH always plants way more than we can use so instead of throwing the extras away this year we'll try to find a food bank to give them to.

Man, I'm windy today! ha ha

Everything Seems Fine

The chenille yarn is holding up nicely with the frogging. Now, if Ginger my little spoiled chihuahua will let me crochet! As soon as she sees me sit in my "crocheting" chair she props up on me and squirms around until she has me scooted to the left side of the chair and goes to sleep. I use the left side to lay my yarn! (See the above picture!) DH says, "Make her get down" but Momma doesn't have the heart to deny her baby anything. She's a good dog and doesn't give us any trouble.
