Out Of The Loop

I have been out of the loop for awhile.  Some may say lazy and they would be correct.

I have made many things since I last checked in.  Since everyone seems to be making Christmas things I decided to start on Valentine's Day doilies.

The cold and snow have started up and our lake is starting to freeze.  Hopefully, it won't get down to -33F this year.  Maybe I should finish my afghan WIPs.

Here are some of the latest doilies:

There is most likely more but I don't want to inundate you with too many.  lol

I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.  We didn't do anything special - just ate pecan pie and coconut cream pie since there is just the two of us and I'm an ovo-lacto vegetarian.

Doily Addiction

I can't stop making doilies even though they hardly ever sell in my Etsy store!

Can you believe we are supposed to get frost this week?  That's Michigan for you!  One of these days I'll be able to plant my garden.

I Hate Pineapples

Although I hate pineapple doilies I make one once in a blue moon because I have to think of my customer base for my Etsy store.

Lazy And Distracted

I'm so lazy and distracted it seems the only thing I do is crochet.  I never add to this blog unless I make something.

These are the two latest:

New One And Missed One

This is my new one

This is the one I missed posting

Today I'm starting on an oval doily from 1914 I've always wanted to make but couldn't find the CC I wanted so I ordered some hand-dyed thread in the perfect color for it from
http://www.ebay.com/usr/craftylady1951?_trksid=p2053788.m1543.l2754

She makes the most beautiful thread.

It is supposed to be Spring but we still have a few remnants of snow on the ground in shady places and it is still cold outside.  I cannot wait until my flowers start budding out.  My periwinkle has started growing but the deer keep nibbling on it.  They nibbled on my hyacinth sprouts.  I hope they still come up.

St. Patrick's Day

Although I don't celebrate St. Patrick's Day ( my Mom passed away on that day in 2009)

this is called "A Touch Of The Irish".

Made with Curio thread - Comfrey & Ice Lily.

Now to decide to make next!

Stripes

I love Alize Miss Batik self-striping yarn/thread.  It must be the popular stuff to use because everyone

is running out of it in online stores.  I made this a few days ago.  It is a vintage pattern called

Frosty Leaves.

I am now making a runner.  It is one I've been wanting to make for several years.  I've never made a

long runner in my 41 years of crocheting.  I get too

impatient.  I'm going to take my time because nobody wants to buy them from me from my Etsy

 store.  Maybe 1 - 2 a year.

I don't know why this blog always shows italics.  I would like to redo my whole page but it would

be a major job.

WIPs Are Piling Up

I did finish this one a few days ago.  I keep starting and stopping and starting and stopping.  I can't make up my mind.  Hopefully the one I'm working on now will be finished in a few days.  I did take a break from thread and made a hooded buttoned cowl for myself.  No picture yet.

It has been in the single digits here and the ice on our lake is 8 inches thick and we've been having a lot of snow nearly every day.  That's Michigan weather for you!  We didn't go to our Arizona house this winter for the first time in eleven years because my FIL has been in the hospital since September 2014.

We brought our Fuschia plant inside and put it in the basement.  It is real cold down there but it always survives.  This will be the fourth year for it.  It needs repotted this spring and is too heavy to be a hanging plant now.  This picture is from 2014 and the following one is from 2015.

My husband also brought the night blooming Jasmine plants inside.  Hopefully, they will survive the
winter.  We have to be careful which plants to set on our deck because numerous ones are poisonous to dogs.  She wouldn't eat them but I don't want to take the chance she might step on a spent bloom because she licks her feet every time she comes back inside.  She is a Chihuahua and I love her to pieces.
