Thrift Store Find
DH and I went to a thrift store and I thought I had hit the jackpot when my eyes spied a box full of Magic Crochet and Decorative Crochet magazines and Annie's Attic leaflets. I started scrounging through the box and they were all water damaged. Rats! But, I looked through them all and picked out the better of them. When I got them home I cut out the patterns I really wanted and put them in plastic sleeves. There was one pattern for a doily I had been looking for so all was not lost.

Going Around The Bend
This is a first for me: I was crocheting a doily yesterday and was wondering why it started curling up around the edges. I checked the pattern and realized I had totally skipped four whole rows of instructions! Duh! Guess I'm going bonkers!

Drool, Drool, Drool
The thread came today and it is almost too pretty to use! Can't wait to see how it crochets up. Miss Obsessed me had to turn around and buy 4 more balls of it in colors I just realized I need! tee hee

New Thread
HH Tatting has a new line of thread called "Lizbeth" and I ordered 14 balls of it. I had to restrain myself! There are so many unique colors it was hard to choose because I wanted them all. The thread is coming today. Yes!

Who Does The Measuring?
I wonder who measures the doilies that I see in pattern magazines? I have seen several patterns that give a finished measurement and the measurement is way off. For instance: I am making a doily that says the finished measurement using size 20 thread and a size 8 hook will be 14 1/2 inches. I am using size 10 thread instead and a size 8 hook and the doily is only going to be about 12 inches finished size. It should be larger than the stated size since I am using a larger thread. I've even seen patterns that call for size 30 or 40 thread and a size 10 or smaller hook and I'll substitute size 10 thread and use a size 7 hook and mine turns out about the same size or smaller. Of course I know better when I start the doily isn't going to be the stated size by looking at how many rows there are. Just a musing of mine.

Doily Factory
I'm cranking them out one right after the other. DH blocked another one for me yesterday and I've started another one. I'm on a roll! I went through every Magic Crochet magazine I have here in MI (the other half are in AZ) and decided on one. There are many other pattern books in my stash and others on my PC. When I need thread I just go shopping in my store = stash in lidded tubs! No need to go to the store since I have every color known to mankind. Well, I take that back - I was rooting through it all and realized I was out of Frosty Green so I bought some yesterday. Whew!

...And Another One Bites The Dust
I have finally learned my lesson. I am not buying any more hand-dyed thread from a certain lady on eBay who shall remain nameless. I have no trouble with the hand-dyed thread I get from Denise but this other lady apparently doesn't rinse her thread good. I tried the "spray with cold water" technique and it didn't work. The colors still bled. Can you tell I'm mad? Hah! Another doily I worked hard on ruined.

Light A Fire
I need to light a fire under DH's butt. I have two doilies that need blocked! ha ha I used hand-dyed thread so I hope they don't fade. I told him to pin them out dry and then spray them with ice cold water to set them instead of dampening them first. Fingers crossed.

Kickin' Cowgirls
Eastward Ho!
We got back here to our summer home at 1am today. Whew! There's so much to get caught up on. I did manage to finish a doily while riding in the car when it wasn't my turn to drive. We'll go back to flying back and forth since DH decided not to take more store inventory with us than is listed. I forgot what all crochet supplies I have here so it will be fun digging through everything.
