Valentine Hearts

I finished making this one yesterday. The pattern called for all white thread but I think the colors make it look nicer.

Crochet Like Crazy

We're getting 11 inches of snow by tomorrow. I guess I'll be crocheting like crazy with nothing else to do! Well, just as long as the electric doesn't go out. Although, I have crocheted by flashlight before. Now that's dedicated! lol

Not For Sale

I've decided to take the Knick Knack doily off Etsy because I am sending it to a friend of mine for a surprise Christmas gift. She mentioned twice how she liked it.

Down To The Wire

We're leaving for our winter home in 5 days! I was going to relax and not make anything else until I got there but a made a doily yesterday and am crocheting another one that should be finished before we leave. Also, I have the one I'm making for myself - if I don't give it away. Photos to follow after my husband blocks the doilies for me.

Frozen Lake

My husband took these from our back deck this morning. The lake is frozen over, we have 5 inches of snow and it's still snowing with a predicted 5 - 8 more inches!

Something To Keep

I'm crocheting a dresser scarf and I just may keep it for myself. I've never made anything for myself. I always end up selling it or giving it away. At least it will give me something to do on the long 1,600 mile drive to our winter home in Arizona.

Second Time's A Charm

I made a doily for my Mom for Christmas and it didn't lay right after blocking so I threw it away and made this Tulip Doily for her instead.

Mr. Snowman

This is a snowman bag keeper I crocheted for a nice lady in my crochet group for the Christmas exchange. He also has a white pom-pom at the tip of his hat not shown in the picture.

Unusual Combination

I made this doily for my sister's mother-in-law. The colors are plum and hand-dyed plums/peaches. I don't know if I care for the color combination but she was thrilled so that's all that matters.

Something For Nothing

I got tired of my doilies selling for nothing on eBay so I'm just going to sell them on Etsy for awhile even though I'm not charging much in the beginning just to feel the customers out. All my other items will still be in my Tadrick Company store on eBay. Please check out my Etsy store by the name of CrochetGinger.

Somebody doesn't look too happy about her new duds! Ginger has never worn a sweater before and doesn't know what to think of it.

Christmas In September

Just finished my first Christmas doily of the season. It was a Patricia Kristoffersen design that I embellished on. I love her patterns but they are intricate and take longer to make. I've already started another Christmas doily. It is a pattern by Elizabeth Hiddleson . Her patterns are nice and most of them don't take as long to crochet because they are more airy. I'm going to wait until I have a few finished then put them up for auction on eBay at one time so if someone looks at one they may look at the other. Pictures to come...

And The Winner Is...

Someone bought the Thanksgiving doily on eBay last night. There was 6 watchers but the first bidder was the only one to bid. So glad someone appreciates my work!

In The Interim...

I had started the Yellow Rose of Texas Doily and saw that a lot of people were selling Thanskgiving/Fall doilies so I stopped and crocheted this one and it will be up for auction tonight.

Chrysanthemum

Well, gloriosky! The Mums & Pineapples doily sold yesterday! I am making a very pretty doily now called "Yellow Rose of Texas". I bought the kit from Annie's Attic. After finishing it I can use the pattern again to make it in a different color.

Won By A Nose

I did get the doily finished last night but my husband doesn't have time to take a picture of it today. Maybe I can post it on eBay tomorrow. The Summer Flower Garden doily sold last night for $10 Not what it's worth but at least somebody liked it enough to pay for it.

Race To The Finish

I'm trying to get a doily finished in the next day or two so it will be on eBay at the same time another one I made. If someone looks at one they'll see the other. It's going to be fall colors. I'm not good at coordinating colors so my husband bought a box of 64 crayons for me to use for making drafts. I scan a doily picture, print it out and color it trying out different schemes. If it doesn't look right I can keep printing them out and coloring them.

Forgot I Had Made This

Not a very clear picture but this is a hairpin (maltese) lace and crochet doily I made about 4 years ago.

Delusions Of Grandeur

Guess I'm kidding myself about my crochet skills. I haven't sold a doily since the Boneyard Doily. The Frog Doorstop sold for a measly $4.99. Doesn't keep me from plodding along!

Remembrance Of Summer

I named this doily I crocheted Summer Flower Garden. All my doilies go up for auction on eBay in case you're interested.

Chrysanthemums For Fall

I just finished crocheting this mums and pineapples doily. It is 15 inches square. With all the little flowers it was tedious to make. Why do I get myself into such things? ha ha

Feeling Froggy

This is a frog and lily pad doorstop I crocheted the other day. Isn't he cute?!

Daddy's Meadow

I call my flower garden "Daddy's Meadow" because I planted it in tribute to my late, greatest Daddy.

Nothing Stops Me

Not even a knee operation! I had a torn meniscus in my right knee but I just propped my leg up and kept on crocheting. It swells a lot and hurts somewhat but it keeps me from being bored.

It Figures

The scarecrow didn't sell. I'll just keep him for myself!

A Plethora Of Blooms

We dug up a few Black-eyed Susans from the side of a gravel road last year and they exploded in my garden this year.

Crazier Than A Loon

Here are two of the many Loons that live on my lake. Their song is so haunting!

Which Should I Do?

Should I read or crochet? I ought to know better than to get library books. Slows down the crocheting. I've been working on a Halloween doily. The basic design is someone else's but I'm embellishing it with appliques of my own design.

This exquisite flower in my yard is a Blue Origami Columbine. Perfect!

Duck Fit

If you make a doily or anything out of red or blue crochet thread don't try to block it the conventional way. You have to iron it or it will be ruined. I know - I just finished making a beautiful red, white and blue doily and my husband dampened it to block it and the red and blue ran onto the white and ruined it! I spent a week making it and had to throw it away. I was so mad I stomped on it and ripped it to shreds. Yes, I threw a duck fit!

Saturday, May 17, 2008

You Have ESP..

...if you knew I didn't finish the bluebird doily. I got to looking on eBay and figured I'd better be working on some 4th of July doilies. I am nearly finished with one.

Saturday, April 26, 2008

Knew It Wouldn't Last Long

I only have a few rows left on the afghan I've been crocheting on but the doily thread started calling my name. I will finish the afghan this fall. I have started making a Bluebird chair set. Only thing, my carpal tunnel has been acting up so I can only do a few rows at a time.

Green Thumb

This is a Desert Bird of Paradise in my back yard.

I grew this rose and the bloom is 6" across!

Really Is The Last One For Awhile

This is the latest and last for awhile. It measures 14" x 25" and it's up for auction as we speak on eBay. I have started crocheting an afghan - for myself for once!

What Happened?

For some reason my picture screwed up so here it is again. I made this for my daughter Sarah.

More Frogskins Than Usual

The Queen Ann doily sold on eBay last night for a few more frogskins than usual but not as much as it was worth considering the hours it took. Oh well, better than nothing.

Wednesday, March 19, 2008

Never In A Million Years...

...would you guess I made another doily! It measures 13" x 22 1/2" While I was making it I thought it was really ugly but after finishing it and after my husband blocked it and took the picture it doesn't look too shabby!

Friday, March 14, 2008

Still Off The Wagon

Yes, no hope for me! This one is called "Tulip Reminiscent"

Going Crochet Cuckoo

You're probably rolling your eyes and twirling your finger by your ear about now! Guess I'd better go to doily re-hab. tee hee

On Another Streak

Yes folks, I'm on another crocheting streak. I do know how to crochet anything you could possibly dream of but doilies are portable and faster and I am all for instant gratification!

Monday, February 25, 2008

The Wait Is Over

I finally finished making this Leafage Irish Crochet Doily. It is from a Decorative Crochet magazine and the pattern is by a brilliant designer Yoko Suzuki.

Saturday, February 23, 2008

Rounding Third

Headed for home! I guess I'm coming down off my 2-month crochet high. It's taking me longer to finish this doily than my usual 2-3 days. Just getting out of the mood I guess.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008

Don't Throw It Back

The new doily I'm working on looks like a keeper. I'm finished with the tedious part of making 28 individual leaves and hiding the ends on them. That's a major hurdle. This is a pattern by Yoko Suzuki from an issue of Decorative Crochet. She is my favorite designer.

Saturday, February 16, 2008

Nirvana

Yes! Valentine's Day is over and Walgreen's brought out the Easter candy and I bought 4 bags of Brach's Bunny Basket Eggs! I'm lucky there are plenty of Walgreen's stores around so I can stockpile them before Easter is over. Aaahhh!!!

Thursday, February 14, 2008

Do You See A Trend?

Yes, I got aggravated and cut up a doily I was working on because the pattern was screwed up. No, it's not me - it really is a screwed up pattern! I've been crocheting for 33 years and have created beautiful things. I promise a new doily in a few days.

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

Not My Whole Life

Guess what? Crocheting is not my whole life. I do other things. Shock! We are going geocaching in the desert today.

Saturday, February 9, 2008

Will Wonders Never Cease?

We were complaining how people put signs out on boxes at the end of the road advertising their yard sales and you can hardly read them as you drive by because people write so small. We nearly passed one and my husband said we may as well check it out - and jokingly said it could be the mother lode. Well, what do you know - we did find quite a lot of things there! Yes!

Friday, February 8, 2008

Gold Sale

That's what my husband and I call private estate sales because people think their junk is more precious than gold.

I've been working on a suncatcher doily and want to get it finished soon because I bought a pattern book off eBay and it has such awesome designs I can hardly wait to start making them!

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

Where Have They Gone?

Where are all the good rummage sales I went to last year and found loads of things to sell on eBay? Maybe I'll hit some in March. Went to one today and found 3 books, 2 pairs knitting needles and one spool of crochet thread. At some of the better sales I've hit the mother lode and came home with a carload of things.

Saturday, February 2, 2008

Mene Mene Tekel Upharsin

The sale today was the worst! I should have seen the handwriting on the wall when they said it was for one day only and for only five hours. I bought a used t-shirt for 50 cents and a tiny teddy bear for my Ginger dog for 10 cents.

Friday, February 1, 2008

Nearly A Rip

We stood in line for an hour at this sale and it was nearly as small. We ended up finding only four books and a few spools of crochet thread.

Thursday, January 31, 2008

What A Rip

Stood in line for an hour in the cold to get into a church rummage sale just to get inside and find a small sale with nothing I needed for my store.

Tuesday, January 29, 2008

Did It Again

I was making a doily that looked nice in the picture but the directions were screwy. It was 3/4 done, I got mad at it and cut it up!

Saturday, January 26, 2008

Not Too Shabby

We didn't do too bad at the sale. We got there an hour early and already there was 15 people in line. They let 50 people go in at a time and luckily we were in the first group. We made a beeline for the craft table and snatched up all the crochet thread and hooks and all the needlework books before anybody got a chance. By the time I paid for my stuff the place was jammed.

Friday, January 25, 2008

Stand In Line

We're going to a church rummage sale today and have to get there at least an hour early and stand in line. If you don't get there early and be near the front of the line when it opens the older ladies will wipe it out in the first five minutes!

Tuesday, January 22, 2008

Vintage

I love vintage patterns so while I was planning my next doily I made this. It's from an American Thread pattern book from 1956.

Sunday, January 20, 2008

Cut Up

I finished a doily all except the edging. I realized I didn't like the pattern after I worked three days making the doily so I took the scissors and cut it to shreds and threw it in the garbage. My husband just looks at me as if I'm nuts. I am! ha ha

Saturday, January 19, 2008

Sold

The Shamrock Doily with the white leaves sold last night on eBay for a piddling $10.50!

Wild Asses

My husband took this while we were out hiking in the desert today. They are so cute!
